For scent work trial photography I almost always use my 600mm lens to make sure I am well out of the way.

The noses on our best friends are absolutely incredible and when they are focused in search mode the last thing I want to do is be a distraction.

Often when owners see my photos they say things like, "Oh, great photos. I didn't even know you were there."

That's when I know I've done a good job at photographing a scent trial.
